Join Vital Records Control’s VP of Health Information Management Services, Carlos Rodriguez, at the Houston Health Information Management Association (HAHIMA) Spring 2020 Meeting on March 6.
HAHIMA is an affiliate of AHIMA, an organization that addresses the business and clinical uses of paper-based and electronic medical records. AHIMA’s objective is to provide the knowledge and resources to advance the health information professional practice and delivery standards of quality healthcare to the public.
At the quarterly meeting, Carlos will deliver a keynote speech – “Federal Government Compliance Update: Whose Data Is It Anyway?”
The presentation will provide an update on federal government regulations, compliance, and the use and access of electronic health records (EHR), including:
- The HHS Office for Civil Rights’ (OCR) Interoperability and Information Blocking Rules.
- The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) of Health IT’s release of the National Health IT Priorities for Research: A Policy and Development Agenda and five-year roadmap as it pertains to patient’s right of access.
- The importance of third-party vendors and Business Associates Agreements (BAA).
- Knowing what patient data is used for.
